Our History
Professional Community Management (PCM) is one
of the most highly regarded managers of family-oriented homeowner
associations and active-adult age qualified communities in the nation.
With headquarters in Lake Forest-Orange County, California, PCM
manages common interest developments in Southern California representing
a combined real estate value in excess of $45 billion. Regional
corporate offices are located in San Diego County and Riverside
County.
PCM grew out of a not-for-profit company that managed
Laguna Woods Village at its inception in 1964. PCM has held the
management contract at this honored active-senior community since
1972 when the company was incorporated to manage a diverse range of homeowner associations
or Common Interest Developments (CIDs).
Professional Community Management, Inc., celebrating over 35 years
of service, has gained national respect and prominence with a management
portfolio of 100,000 housing units in approximately 250 homeowner associations. The Multi Housing Council
has recognized PCM as one of the largest management firms in the
United States. PCM was the first company in California to receive
the prestigious designation of Certified Management Firm (CMF®)
conferred by the California Association of Community Managers.
In its history, PCM has experienced several changes of ownership
under public and private companies, with a management scope ranging
from nation-wide to the present base in Southern California. It
is interesting to note that throughout the changes, leadership of
the company has remained in the hands of Co-CEO's Russell L. Disbro
and Jeffrey B. Olsen. Corporate structure has evolved to include
Professional Community Management International, Inc. as holding
company for subsidiary corporations of Professional Community Management
of California, Inc.; Professional Community Management, Inc.; and
PCM Realty and Marketing, Inc.; and most recently, PCM Consulting, Inc. which will
provide California Department of Real Estate budget preparation, community association forward planning,
financial analysis and governance structure consulting services to builders and developers for a diverse
range of community associations.
In 1994, Disbro and Olsen acquired
equal shares of all the stock in the company, and they now direct
all of the activities of the privately held corporations. These
two industry leaders represent a combined experience level exceeding
60 years.
With a staff of over 1400 people, PCM has on-site community offices
in Orange, San Diego, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties. PCM is
staffed by experienced professionals who provide service in property
management, financial management, customer service, maintenance
services, recreation and hospitality event programming, information
technology, and community web site services branded as PCM iaccess™.
The company operates on an IBM AS/400 which is arguably the most
efficient, comprehensive, and sophisticated information system for
financial and management reporting technology.
