LAKE FOREST, Calif., August 17, 2004 — Professional Community Management (PCM), one of the nation’s largest companies providing community management services to homeowner associations (HOAs), announced today Michelle Burge’s promotion to chief financial officer.
“Michelle Burge has consistently demonstrated her keen understanding of the financial needs of our company,” said Russ Disbro, CEO, PCM and former executive and general manager of Leisure World in Laguna Woods. “She has shown an incredible ability to balance the growth needs of our firm against the realities of a constantly changing market, optimizing the use of our financial resources and real assets.”
Burge has greater than twenty years of community management experience and has headed the accounting department of PCM since joining the company in 1996. Under her leadership and supervision, PCM’s accounting department maintains the records and directs the financial affairs of greater than 180 community associations located throughout Southern Calif.
Burge works closely with client board of directors in providing guidance and understanding of the financial needs of each community and is also responsible for organizing and conducting regular training classes for association board members. Additionally, she assists with and provides on-going training for PCM’s accounting staff and community managers.
Burge began her career in public accounting where her main focus was providing auditing and tax services to homeowner associations. After leaving public accounting she worked for a large commercial property management company where she was responsible for reporting monthly financial results to the Irvine Company on each of its properties.
Previous to joining PCM Michelle served as a Controller for a large resort management company where she was responsible for supervising and overseeing the financial affairs of approximately 60,000 owners with resorts located throughout the United States. Michelle also served as Chief Financial Officer for another Management Company, which managed over 95 community associations located throughout Southern California and the Inland Empire.
She has been active in both the Finance Committee and Management Firm Council of CACM and is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Michelle Burge is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from San Diego State University.
