Professional Community Management of California,
Inc. launches
campaign to inform the public of the motives and finances of
unelected group causing strife in Laguna Woods Village
PCM takes action to assist the community in being fully informed of the
motives, operations and finances of unelected community group
LAKE FOREST, Calif. (Oct. 4, 2007)—Professional Community Management of California, Inc. (PCM CA) and its sister company, Professional Community Management, Inc., have recently come under attack in a series of print advertisements in the Orange County Register. These advertisements claim to be paid for by a group of residents at one of PCM’s largest and longest managed clients.
These advertisements are estimated to cost $10,000 to $30,000 and raise the question of whether someone or some organization outside the community, possibly with a monetary gain as a motive, is assisting in the funding of these advertisements. PCM CA is launching an inquiry to determine who is providing the possibly large sums of money that this group of residents is using to cause strife and contention in the community while attacking PCM’s brand, reputation and the elected officials of the various corporations in Laguna Woods Village.
The legal formation status of the unelected organization claiming to fund these advertisements is unclear. It would be important for the public to know if this group is a 501C-3 non-profit, a for-profit venture, a political organization or PAC and what financial accountability the group has legally.
All organizations that receive and spend funds have rules they must adhere to, as do individuals. It is important for the community to know if this group is in full compliance with the laws pertaining to financial reporting regarding the receiving and spending of funds.
PCM CA will ask Internal Revenue Service to inquire into the group and to make sure that all financial reporting requirements are being followed.
PCM CA will ask the California Attorney General’s Office if there are any laws pertaining to financial reporting of organizations such as this.
PCM CA will also take a series of steps to protect its brand and its longstanding relationship with the communities it serves and will continue to provide excellence in community management service.
“For more than three decades, PCM and its sister companies have built a reputation for professionalism, extraordinary customer service and strict adherence to its fiduciary responsibilities,” said Russ Disbro, CEO of PCM CA. “We will no longer idly stand by and be attacked in this unprecedented manner by this organization and will work to ensure the public is fully informed.”
